The End. * * * RATING: C As noted in the excellent reviews by Garten, Ten, and Tensai11, this episode provides a mildly interesting look into the transformation of a ghost into a Hollow. Although this episode gratuitously lathers on humor and slapstick, the end result seems more corny than amusing. Without a doubt, there *are* some genuinely funny bits in this segment -- as noted by Ten, the running gag on Rukia's drawings are always worth a laugh, and for what it's worth, the exuberance of the fake exorcist is a welcome change from the usually stuffy atmosphere. Nevertheless, this title is dragged down by its moralistic lectures, and in the end, seems altogether tedious. After a full ten episodes, it's disappointing that this series has never really become compelling. Even when one considers the strong plot development in the prior episode, it's quite hard to feel any empathy for any of the main characters, and given the strong palette of other available shonen titles, it's easy to pass this title by. * * * disagree? read 12 comments! * * * Related Reviews |
