The End. * * * RATING: B Just as pointed out in the excellent reviews of Garten, Ten, Kungfucius, and Tensai11, this episode is a heady mix of style, action, and drama. In a distinct change from Ichigo-Rukia centric episodes, this episode does an exceptional job in sliding a new protagonist into the storyline. In one sense, it's finally see the entrance of an actual *rival* to our hero -- instead of the various pushovers seen before, it seems that Ishida Uryuu is not only smarter than Ichigo, but stronger and more experienced. Part of this is naturally expected, given the impressive Quincy heritage that Ishida bears, but in some ways, it seems that Ishida simply has more style than his counterpart. In any case, Ishida's introduction and subsequent rivalry seems to be an superb catalyst for the fierce action that composes the core of this series -- with Ichigo, Ishida, and Chad in battle, there's plenty of room for corny humor and critical upcoming plot development. * * * disagree? read 30 comments! * * * Related Reviews |
