RATING: B

In an excellent follow to the previous action-heavy episode, this episode instead dwells more on the psychosocial interaction between the two brothers.

As we've seen in the last three episodes, the blood seal that binds Alphonse's soul to his armor is quite fragile, and, now that he realizes that he isn't invincible, it's quite natural to see Alphonse stop relying on his brother and start fending for himself. Although this promises to give more depth to the story (now that we have two strong protagonists, instead of one protagonist and an assistant), it's worrying whether Edward will be able to reconcile relations with Edward, now that he has shown that he won't sacrifice humans to save his brother. After all, it seems that a sacrificing living humans is an unavoidable pre-requisite for creating a Philosopher's Stone, and, if Edward couldn't do it in Ep. 22, what's to say that he can do it later?

In one sense, perhaps we'll just have to wait and see if Edward and Alphonse really do make up. However, just as Kungfucius said, it's nerve-wracking to wait to see what Elric was really going to say to Alphonse back in Rizenbul. Damn you, Square Enix!
