Full Metal Alchemist 25March 30, 2004Title: Farewell Ceremony After recovering in the hospital, Edward decides to search for clues in the south along with Alphonse and . . . Winry.
Meanwhile, Colonel Hughes decides to ask the Fuher's secretary about the Philosopher's Stone . . .
but he is murdered soon after.
The End. * * * RATING: A No . . . way. This is probably just me, but after I watched this, I just sat for ten minutes in front of my blank laptop screen, utterly astonished. To be sure, we've seen tons of graphic deaths in Full Metal Alchemist (i.e. Nina, Gran), but I never, ever expected that Hughes would die. I mean, I could definitely see General Armstrong, or Lieutenant Ross, or even Col. Mustang being sacrificed for the plot, but Hughes and his family always seemed too sacrosanct for elimination. Didn't Edward first realize how to do alchemy without a transmutation circle at Hughes' house? Wasn't Hughes the only person who remembered Edward's birthday? Wasn't Hughes the only person who gave Edward information to track down Nina's killer? Given the close relationship between Edward and Hughes, it's simply phenomenal to see how Square Enix had the gall to take the Colonel out of the picture, especially as he's the only alpha male to come close to a father figure. *runs away in shock* * * * disagree? read 29 comments! * * * Related Reviews
