The End. * * * RATING: B Honestly, it's still amazing to see just how intense and unique FMA is. For example, take our hero, Edward Elric. If you compare him to standard anime protagonists, Edward embodies the utter *opposite* of a typical bishonen -- he's short (not tall), has his long hair in braids (not straight), and prefers melee combat to long-range spells. Nevertheless, even though Square Enix flaunts an utter disregard for standard anime cliches, it's pretty cool to see that FMA is currently the number one anime series in Japan, simply based on the merit of its storyline. Anyway, this episode was quite easy-going, which allows a nice change from the nerve-wracking events of the last episode. Although there *is* a bit of plot development with Mustang, most of this episode centers on Edward and Winry's relationship and the ensuing juxtaposition of alchemy vs. automail. In retrospect, it's slightly disturbing to note the de-emphasis on combat due to the increased prominance of Winry, but perhaps the subsequent episodes will give more room for the group dynamic to develop. * * * disagree? read 12 comments! * * * Related Reviews
