Full Metal Alchemist 29

Title: Innocent Child
Fansubbed by: Anime-Keep & ANBU

In the last episode, the Elric brothers discovered that there was an alchemy-using child living on Izumi-sensei's "uninhabited" island. The child doesn't remember anything, so Izumi takes him home with her.

Although Izumi trusts the new child, Edward suspects that he has seen the boy somewhere else, perhaps with the evil Homunculi. Edward goes to Izumi to ask her opinion, and during their conversation, Edward remembers that he saw the boy's eyes when he lost his arm during his mother-resurrection attempt.

After realizing this, Edward confronts the boy and discovers that the boy possesses an exact replica of Edward's missing left arm and right leg, right down to an identical old scar.

RATING: B

Honestly, just between you and me, I've totally given up trying to predict the plot of this series. A few weeks ago, Kabitzin, Sugar, and I all tried to figure out the Rizembul question between Edward and Alphonse and, just when we thought that we had finally grasped the situation, we were totally blind-sided by the death of Col. Hughes.

I guess that's how that's how everything is now. On an immediate level, the pressing question is "Why does the boy have Edward's arm and leg?", but I sense that much more dangerous events are about to happen.

From the comments of Envy and the Fuhrer's secretary, it seems that the Elric brothers are being controlled like puppets to find the Philosopher's Stone and avoid the Ishbal matter. But this won't be tolerated by Scar (who still has to avenge his brother's death) or Colonel Mustang, who now has the research notes & books of Col. Hughes. To be sure, there are a lot of neutral individuals (i.e. Colonel Archer), but there's definately going to be a showdown soon, and I have no doubt that this will defy all expectations.
