Gankutsuou 15February 7, 2005Title: End of Happiness and Beginning of Truth Morcef is leading a successful presidential campaign . . .
But his past secrets are revealed by Haydee . . .
and the crowd turns against Morcef.
The End. * * * RATING: B Just as pointed out in BluWacky's excellent review, all semblance of human goodness has been *stripped* from this title. Without a doubt, we are now wholly in the realm of unadulterated madness. Given the intricate societal machinations of the first half of this series, it's horrifically thrilling to see all the niceties ripped apart and the Count's evil tactics unleashed in full force. To be sure, the sheer power of the Count turns any suspenseful conflict into a farcical rout, but as a counterpoint, the sustained rampage engenders a desperate hope that the joint efforts of Franz and Nortier will be able to decipher the mystery and redeem their friends. In one sense, it's hard to empathize at any level with the Count, given his inclination to deception and brutality. Nevertheless, his brief stories suggests that all is not as it seems, and indeed, the *real* malice in this series has just begun to smolder. * * * disagree? read 6 comments! * * * Related Reviews
