The End. * * * RATING: B For the last seven episodes, Gankutsuou has done a magnificent job of building pressure between the protagonists of this title. However, the lid has been taken off, the dogs of war have been unleashed, and for all intents and purposes, the fight is *on*. As an introduction, this episodes starts with a deceptively innocent introduction -- quite simply, a meeting of the three chief Parisians. However, things quickly turn sour, and the Count uses the already tangled web of jealousy to divide the three statesmen. Once separated, the Count bears down on Villefort, and uses an old affair and a mysterious painting to bring him to his knees. Now that the Count has struck the first blow, there's no turning back -- all that remains to be seen is just *how* far this situation will escalate. Right now, most of the protagonists believe that the Count is a benevolent character and are willing to sacrifice themselves for him, but undoubtedly by the time this story concludes, there will be bodies strewn for miles on end. * * * disagree? read 12 comments! * * * Related Reviews
