Our hero gets annoyed at his mecha companion . . .

However, the base is attacked, and although Shizuru tries her best . . .

she is overwhelmed and dies in our hero's arms.

Awwww.

There's really nothing one can say about this episode -- indeed, it showed the sheer tragedy of losing a companion in battle, and interestingly enough, showed the 'dark side' of saving the earth.

Having said that, this series seems to be wavering in it's purpose, and it'll be nice to see more plot development. Perhaps we'll just have to wait for this series to really get into its groove.
