The End. * * * RATING: B By all standards, it is nearly impossible to see just *how* a mere car race can be so riveting, given its rather plebian content. Nevertheless, it's clear that this episode was literally pumped to the gills with suspense. At a first pass, this series is loaded with abstruse terminology, and between casual remarks on 'natural aspiration' and single-turbine rotary engines, it's quite easy to get lost in the maze of technicalities. However, the real core -- the real ethos of this show focuses not on the cars itself, but on the intense development of the drivers as they overcome their obstacles, and in the end, it is wickedly entertaining to see them transcend their own abilities within the span of twenty minutes. As most experienced anime fans know, this title has been running strong for several years, and it's not hard to see why. Although the character development is stark, the environments are epic, the soundtrack is apt, and the clods of angst are single-handedly capable of *crushing* the will of any non-fortified soul. * * * disagree? read 13 comments! * * * Related Reviews
