RATING: B

Words cannot describe the seething rage that this episode evokes. Although our sole male protagonist has been oft shunned by the one whom he 'protects', he is called by his brother to again stand by his side . . . yet Souma turns and tramples this offer, content only to wallow in putrid servitude.

When it started, Kannazuki no Miko seemed to be lacking both plot and coherence, but in a suprisingly quick reversal, both character development and plot development seem to be moving on full steam. In the interests of more action, it's quite nice to see the story drop the high school society subplot in lieu of conventional good-vs-evil fare, and, if anything, the backstory between Tsubasa and Souma add a particularly good twist to this tale. As proved through the cinematography of George Lucas, it's always quite interesting to see two family members on opposite sides of the moral divide, and without a doubt, the sheer potential within this character dynamic is exhilarating.

While this is well and good, one can't help but be disappointed by the continued emphasis that this series places on the twisted psychosis of Himeko. While it's fascinating to observe the quims of a milquetoast of this magnitude, it detracts from the epic nature of this title and the consequent honor it deserves.
