Kenran Butoh Sai 3April 26, 2004Title: Dream Development! Junior is a lowly assistant on a pirate submarine. Instead of being an assistant, Junior wants to pilot one of the submarine's "RB" mechas.
And so, Junior steals an RB mecha and wanders away into the ocean depths. Unfortunately, Junior gets captured by Vestamona Laurel, a young member of the "Earth Federation" police agency.
Fortunately, our protagonist Gram goes out and rescues Junior.
The End. * * * RATING: C Hmm. At first, it's easy to say that Kenran is just another mecha clone redone underwater (*cough* RaphX *cough*), but, just as Ender and Reika state, this series evidently chooses to emphasize plot development in favor of all-out action. Although this route is commendable, I'm not sure whether I like it -- after all, our protagonist is a pirate, so the rest of the series will probably emphasize how the pirates are good guys at heart (a la One Piece / Cowboy Bebop / Robin Hood). Since this concept has been thrashed out pretty thoroughly, I think I'm going to stick to Bakuretsu Tenshi, which doesn't seem to have much plot development, but instead focuses on action and psychotic-character development. So, I guess Kenran is going to be put aside -- if something really devious occurs, I'll come back, but I guess I'll just catch it on DVD (^_^) * * * disagree? read 2 comments! * * * Related Reviews
