RATING: B

Ok, the deeper we get into this series, it seems that Kenran chooses to emphasize character development in lieu of straightforward mecha action. Although I'm particularly biased towards mecha in general, I must say that the last few episodes have been quite well done.

From a broad standpoint, Kenran seems quite similar to the shonen pirate series 'One Piece'. Just like it's counterpart, Kenran doesn't seem to rely on the RB mechas (or the mythical 'Devil Fruits') as a core component, but merely uses them to spice up the storyline. After all is said and done, both titles rely primarily on the interpersonal relationships between the respective crewmembers.

In this episode, we see Ms. Enora firmly identifying our hero Gram as an 'elder-brother' figure. This is rather unusual, since Ms. Enora is initially portrayed as a fiercely independent girl, while Gram is portrayed as a nonchalant 'laissez-faire' mark. Although Gram's acceptance of Enora seems suspiciously tied to her financial connections on Earth, it's evident that this sibling-esque relationship will prove to be amusing in the meantime.

Anyway, just as BluWacky mentioned, the ball definitely seems to be rolling. Although I also can't stand Enora's grating voice, the smooth storyline and well-crafted dialogue make this an enjoyable and easy-going series to watch.
