The End. * * * RATING: B Just as Ten points out, Naruto has *finally* entered the elite 'long-running-series' status associated with legendary titles like Doraemon (2000+ episodes), Sazae-san (1,700+), and Detective Conan (350+). While it's still a toss-up to see whether Naruto will become enshrined in anime history, there's absolutely no question that this show deserves its current popularity. After nearly two years, all one can say is . . . you've come a long way, baby. This particular episode showcases the excellent plot development within this series -- it's painful to bear witness to Lee's struggles against his detractors, and it's accordingly nice to see that Lee's hard work is matched by Gai's concern. Although Gai has traditionally been portrayed as a funny / flippant individual, it's clear that he has a heart of gold. Appropriately, it's touching to see Gai confess that he will indeed sacrifice his life for his student. While there was plenty of harsh moments in this series, this episode was quite light-hearted -- it was hilarious to see Gai's skanky pose (prior to the absurd paper-rock-scissors duel) and it was similarly unsettling to see Tsunade donning the traditional tricorn hat of the Hokage (^_^) In any case, this series is clearly on track -- plot development has been utterly superb, and now that Sasuke is healthy, there's a *ton* of potential for development of the group dynamic. If anything, it'll be spine-tingling to see what happens to our protagonists in the future :) * * * disagree? read 67 comments! * * * Related Reviews
