Meanwhile, a genin squad led by Shikamaru leaves to re-capture Sasuke
But they are easily intercepted by Orochimaru's team.
The End. * * * RATING: B In the aftermath of Sasuke's departure, it seems like this series has gained an alarming sense of momentum -- at every second, the plot grows fiercer, the enemies grow stronger, and our heroes become more desperate. In contrast to the discontinuous arcs shown before, the present chapter has an intensely epic feel, as if *everything* is wagered in heat of the battle -- not just Sasuke's health, but Orochimaru's plans and the very existence of Konoha is hanging in the balance. In credence to the high stakes present, it is simply astonishing to see just how powerful the Level 2 curse seal is. To be sure, Orochimaru's squad is quite strong by itself, but it is shocking to see them pass through Konoha unharmed, while doling out massive trauma injuries to Konoha's *jounins*. Although our protagonists have definately grown in power, it's obvious that they are completely outmatched. Given the amount of death shown in this episode alone, it's almost impossible to compare Orochimaru's elite guards with Konoha's carefree genins.
