The End. * * * RATING: B In a poignant conclusion to the first Konoha/Gate battle, this episode shows Chouji sacrificing his life for the well-being of his comrades. Despite being a relatively minor character, there's no doubt that Chouji exemplified the very ideals of friendship, loyalty, and courage that are held sacred in this series. In one sense, it's hard to imagine how we underestimated Chouji so much -- although he was oft used for comic relief, Chouji's warm-heartedness and willingness to give up his life is a testament to how a real shinobi ought to ask. Without a doubt, other genins may have more raw talent, but as Shikamaru said, Chouji was the best of them all. When all is said and done, it's traumatic to actually witness the death of someone we've known for nearly a hundred episodes.
