Naruto 119January 21, 2005Title: A Blunder! A New Enemy! After an enemy counterattack, Tayuya pins Shikamaru . . .
Sakon prepares to crush Kiba . . .
and only Naruto is left to rescue Sasuke from Kimimaro.
The End. * * * RATING: B In a wicked reversal to last week's daring rescue operation, the tables have turned, and how. With the arrival of Kimimaro, the odds of Konoha's success have plunged to insubstantiality. In the last episodes, it seems like we were led to believe that Shikamaru's team had a chance, a gamble, a stake -- after all, they had they strength in numbers, and possessed the courage to sacrifice their lives for Sasuke's redemption. However, the presence of Kimimaro rips these hopes to shreds -- besides being the past heir of Orochimaru, his intrinsic ruthlessness strips all hope of mercy away. Elsewhere, Shikamaru and Kiba are fighting against horrific odds -- Kiba's symbiote Akamaru has been knocked unconscious, while Shikamaru's opponent has summoned three huge giants to her side. Given the yawning despair within this episode, even the snatches of slapstick humor do little to ease the malaise. On all three fronts, Naruto, Kiba, and Shikamaru seem doomed to a brutal fate, and mere survival seems unattainable. * * * disagree? read 176 comments! * * * Related Reviews
