The End. * * * RATING: C In a rather mediocre follow-up to the excellent prior arcs, this episode shows Kiba and Akamaru fighting toe-to-toe against the strongest member of Orochimaru's original strike team. However, despite the huge powers & summons involved, the battle seems devoid of strategy, honor, or vitality. In one sense, it's possible to say that Kiba and Akamaru were outmaneuvered from the start -- even before Sakon engaged his curse seal, Kiba seemed unable to leave a *scratch* on his opponent. Although Kiba used his powers to transform into a double-headed wolf, his team attack was uneffective, and was completely nullified by Orochimaru's shield. In the end, it's somewhat honorable to see Kiba stab himself in order to defeat his opponent, but this sacrifice seems meaningless, since Kiba and Akamaru were never worthy opponents to begin with. Without a doubt, it's quite hard to empathize with Kiba's current plight, given his inclination to arrogance and overconfidence.
