Naruto 71February 21, 2004Title: Absolutely Incomparable! A Hokage-Level Battle! Ever since Konoha was invaded by Orochimaru's troops, this series has been moving at an obscenely fast pace. This particular episode is no exception, as we see the Konoha chief ninja getting the crap beat out of him . . .
Orochimaru turning into a teenage girl . . .
and Sasuke finally catching up with Kankuro, Gaara, and Temari.
The End. * * * RATING: B Whoa. It's uncanny how much this series can pack into a 24-minute window. Did I mention that the Konoha Hokage uses a summoned Monkey God as a staff? Or that that his two undead opponents can recover from any injury? Without a doubt, this was an exciting episode, with fast-paced action, and well-choreographed fight scenes. However, although it was pretty cool to see the sheer power of the Hokage and his predecessors, it was a bit disappointing to see them using brute force attacks (i.e. fire cannon, water wall), instead of the strategic maneuvers used during the Chunin exams (i.e. replication, shadow freeze). Nevertheless, it seems that the Konoha Hokage currently has all the cards stacked against him, so, despite my misgivings, I'm also waiting to see if the Hokage is going to succeed against these impossible odds.
