Naruto 86June 4, 2004Title: The Pursuit of Knowledge! I'll definitely get stronger! After leaving Sasuke with Gai, Naruto and Jiraiya continue on their quest to find the legendary ninja Tsunade, who is notoriously bad at gambling.
Meanwhile, Naruto and Jiraiya stop to attend a festival at a nearby town. As expected, Jiraiya spends all of Naruto's savings.
After the festival, Jiraiya demonstrates a new powerful technique for Naruto.
The End * * * RATING: C After all the angst of the last few episodes, it's rather nice to have a slow-paced filler episode. This episode is definitely laid-back, as we have plenty of humor (i.e. Gai's stretchy suit) and see Jiraiya back in his role as playah extraordinaire. Although we finally got to see what Tsunade looks like, she's still quite a mystery -- we don't know why she's considered so powerful, why she left Konoha, and, perhaps most importantly, why she has a pet pig. Unfortunately, it seems that the next episode will focus on Naruto's training, so I guess we'll have to wait for some time to find these answers. It's clear that Naruto will have to work extremely hard in order to defend himself against Itachi and Kisame, so, on that note, it's probable that the next episode will be something to look forward to (^_^) * * * disagree? read 20 comments! * * * Related Reviews
