The End

RATING: B

Although Orochimaru has been absent for nearly ten episodes, it's clear that he's just as cool as he was before. Now that Naruto is nearly done with his training, the plot moves quite quickly, both reviving and reconnecting the various storyline threads of before. Although Orochimaru, Tsunade, and Jiraiya have been separated for ages, their independent paths have serendipitously brought the "legendary three sannin" together.

In my opinion, this is truly a master accomplishment -- if one looks at the past, it seems that the three master ninjas had their own discrete paths: Jiraiya wanted to find a Hokage so he could get back to his 'research', Tsunade wanted to spend more time gambling, and Orochimaru wanted someone to fix his arms. Yet somehow, all three of these different routes converge on one axis.

In any case, it's clear that the confrontation of the three sannin will be interesting, to say the least -- Orochimaru is nearly immortal, Jiraiya has wicked sealing skills, and Tsunade is supposed to be awesome at healing. When you throw in a tactical genius (Kabuto), our hero (Naruto), and a pet pig, there's no question that this arc is primed for excellence. Now, if there weren't any cliffhangers, that would be nice, but I guess we'll just have to wait until next week (^_^)
