The last few episodes have been obscenely suspenseful, so it's perhaps expected to have a relaxing filler episode at this time. Holding true to the classic 'onsen episode' format (see Kenran 9), this episode has an easily-forgettable sub-plot that is quite removed from the general storyline.

Having said that, this episode was definitely amusing -- Jiraiya's unsuccessful pool antics were rather funny, and it was fairly memorable to have a huge squad of Tsunade imitators running amuck through the town.

In any case, it seems like we'll be thrown straight back into the story in the next episode, so there's lots of stuff to look forward to. For one, it's clear that Itachi and Kisame haven't been idle for all this time, but I guess we'll have to wait until next week to see what they've been up to (>_<)
