Naruto 98August 27, 2004Title: Quit Being a Ninja! A Notice from Tsunade! Tsunade prepares to be inaugurated as the new Hokage.
In the meantime, Tsunade heals Sasuke . . .
. . . and tells Gai that Rock Lee is too disabled to be a ninja.
The End. * * * RATING: B After much time on the road, it's definitely a relief to be back in Konoha. As expected, the main focus of this episode is on Tsunade's acclimation as a Kage. Although she decidedly lacks the dignity of a ruler, it's clear that she has the skills necessary for such a title -- within seconds, she is able to heal both Sasuke and Kakashi, who have remained comatose for ten-odd episodes. Ironically, the one person that Tsunade can't heal is Rock Lee, who seems to be the one person most worthy of being healed. Just like Naruto, Rock Lee has worked extremely hard to become an extraordinary ninja, and it's quite sad to see his hopes dashed in a single blow. Most tellingly, this hearkens back to the aftermath of the fight between Naruto and Neji, where Naruto tells that one can do anything, regardless of fate and other obstacles. It'll be quite a conceptual reversal to have Rock Lee's hard work stymied by his injuries, but there's no doubt that this is a possibility. On a much lighter note, it's clear that the other ninjas are doing well -- Kiba and Neji show signs of improvement, and Shikamaru and Konohamaru both appear to be exactly the same as before. Like Tsunade, Naruto still has to re-acclimate himself with being a regular genin, and clearly has to come to terms with the relationship between Sakura and Sasuke. As Iruka said, Naruto still has a long way to go, but I guess we'll just have to wait to see how he rises to the occasion (^_^) * * * disagree? read 63 comments! * * * Related Reviews
