RATING: B

Just as pointed out in Ten's excellent review, it is *impossible* to fully rationalize why this series is so good. Although this episode eschewed plot, drama, and style, it was damningly compelling.

Given that OP is the practical antithesis to titles like Gankutsuou, it's hard to see how this series continues to stand up. Even when focusing on the predominant action component of this title, the attacks are dangerously old-school, the combat is blatantly unrealistic, and the outcome could be seen from a mile away. However, all of these faults are completely trivial, since this episode stars . . . Zoro.

Even *without* the presence of his opponent, the mere presence of this protagonist is enough to justify the utter lack of plot, polish, and substance. At the risk of understatement, Roronoa Zoro is the coolest character to walk out of a work of fiction. Ever.
