The End. * * * RATING: B Honestly, this is a textbook example on how brother-brother interactions in anime ought to be depicted. For the first time in ages, we finally see a standard interaction between two family members, instead of one that hearkens to the weird "I-hate-your-guts" Sasuke-Itachi schism in Naruto or the "I-never-trusted-you" Alphonse-Elric motif in Full Metal Alchemist. In any case, this was an excellent episode -- I couldn't help laughing when Captain Luffy was reunited with his pirate gang while being chased by the marines. Personally, I don't think I've ever seen such a consistently funny protagonist -- high marks definitely go to Luffy for characterization, style, and voice acting. Anyway, the star of this episode was Luffy's brother, Portugas D. Ace. Although it seems remarkably coincidental that Ace would *also* get elemental powers from eating a Devil's fruit, he exudes an enormously cool 'older-sibling' aura (i.e. "Don't you dare touch my little brother . . . "). Although I initially saw him in the manga ages ago, Ace is still cool as ever. So, to sum up, this was definitely entertaining stuff -- as expected, it's not really for the eclectic anime connoisseur, but for all others, it's definitely a treat (^_^) * * * disagree? read 3 comments! * * * Related Reviews
