The End. * * * RATING: B Just as pointed out in Ten's excellent review, this series is on fiyah. Whether one is looking for killer fight scenes, strong plot development, or budding pseudo-romance, Samurai 7 delivers in spades. With the exception of mecha Kikichuyo, it finally seems that all seven members of our cast have been assembled. The newest addition is the renegade samurai Kyuuzo, who is *extremely* cool. To be sure, it's hard to guess his real motives for defecting from the Bandits, and just as the priestess Kirara points out, there's a chance that Kyuuzo will turn out to be either a double agent or a traitor. However, Kyuuzo is accepted on the basis of his wicked Bandit-dismembering sword skills, and it's clear that our team's lethality and effectiveness have been noticeably increased. Kyuuzo's mysterious nature is offset by the novice samurai Katsunoji, who seems to be rather enamored with Kirara. This response is at odds with the central ethos of the samurai, and, as such, Katsunoji seems to be questioning his rationale for becoming for becoming a samurai. Without a doubt, it'll be interesting to see how Katsunoji eventually confronts the 'forbidden love' motif, and indeed, becomes a man. At present, it seems like Samurai 7 is absolutely perfect -- there's tons of excellent action and great storyline development. Just to go on a limb, perhaps the only thing missing is that the protagonists in Samurai 7 don't have that much depth -- they're all fairly clear-cut. It'll be interesting to see if Gonzo can eventually use these characters to evoke a response similar to FMA's murder of Hughes, but it seems we'll just have to wait (>_<) * * * disagree? read 15 comments! * * * Related Reviews
