M2 Finals Finished

May 3, 2008

go team go

Huzzah -- just finished final exams for the second year of med school! These last few weeks have been full of non-stop studying, so it's great to see everything slam to a stop. This is kind of stupid, but there still seems to be some inertia left after the breakneck pace, and I keep on getting a nagging sense that I ought to be studying at the hospital instead of playing video games.

Anyway, wanted to just say a quick word about M2 before I forget, but looking back, it had to be one of the most enjoyable years of my life -- I got to learn interesting subjects, got some solid clinical exposure, and (most importantly) had a chance to form a wicked study group with some of the smartest and nicest people I've ever met. I present to you . . . my crew:

From left to right, here's John (complete genius, MD/PhD in mechanical engineering), Dan (MD/PhD in biology), [top] Tristan (best friend / study partner), [bottom] Ric (future oncologist), Rudi (another genius, MD/PhD in neuroscience), and Jacob (future ophthalmologist). If I'm thankful for one thing throughout med school, it's the fact that if I need help, these guys have my back covered.

In any case, am having a great time sludging around before rotations start. It turns out that playing deathmatch in Unreal Tournament does *not* come back quickly like riding a bike, and it's rather disheartening to get creamed by bots at 'novice' difficulty. However, I'm sure that this will change with practice :)
