DoomNovember 8, 2005Argh, just got *totally* betrayed by my awesome math study group and went together to see Doom. I haven't played the game, so I'm probably not grasping aspects of the underlying vision that were lost in transition to video, but still, I must register the winter of my discontent. Roger Ebert perfectly nails it when he says "'Doom' is like some kid came over and is using your computer and won't let you play." And regarding the central quote -- "Ten percent of the human genome has not yet been mapped. Some say it's the blueprint for the soul." -- just classic. I *must* take A. to see this, just because of the great pseudo-science plot feeds. The beast has an extra chromosome! The beast has an extra chromosome! (OMGWTF Klinefelter's syndrome!) In any case, inquiring minds (*cough* T., R.) want to know whether The Rock could take on Vin Diesel. . . . Is that even a valid question? Is it even *possible* to compare the two? The mind boggles! |
